REFINISHING & RESTORING

We enjoy refinishing and restoring wood that has lost its purpose or luster. Revealing the beauty that lurks under years of use, storage or neglect brings such joy to us all. This service often includes stripping the wood of old finish, tightening joints, replacing missing parts, various levels of sanding and choosing the most appropriate finish for the piece.

In the early 1900’s I left Europe with my family. At that time, I was a beautiful Oak dining table. Over the years, with moves from east to west coast and living with different family members, to include young children and dogs, I accumulated many nicks, gnaws and hidden globs of gum. As you can see from the pictures below, Whispering Wood Designs, restored my strength and my beauty. Repairs and restorations were done using lots of sanding, wood glue, epoxy, polyeutherane and Odies Oil and Butter finish.

From a garage sale, this Burled Maple was slathered in epoxy resin and transformed with sanding, leveling, and filling to become a beautiful entryway statement piece.
