Whispering Wood Designs is a woman-owned, artesian woodworking business.

Welcome to our facilities!

Welcome to our four-building facility, the dream child of Cindy.  Each building is a station where specific elements of the creative process take place as described in the pictures below.

Wood is categorized and stored in various places on the property. Smaller pieces of logs, wood slabs and roots are stored for creative projects yet to whisper their evolutionary call.

Here you have the kiln station. The kiln was built by Cindy and Patty to have adjustable racks, a removable front panel and a folding top. The climate inside is actually controlled from Cindy’s phone! This building houses dimensional lumber.

The cutting station is a room attached to the kiln station. This is the messy space, housing chain saws, sanders and lots of non-dimensional lumber One side has a Dutch door which allows for air flow, a beautiful view outside and easy access for bringing in large pieces of wood.

Here you see the main shop, a tuff shed model with doors rearranged to accommodate large machinery and pieces of wood. This building is where design through cutting, sanding and processing takes place. As you can see there are tools galore. It also houses a dust collection system, several large sanders, a drill press, scroll saw and a band saw. Inside the main shop is where the magic happens.

The finishing station is a smaller building adjacent the main shop where epoxy is poured and various finishes are applied, most of which are food safe. Wood enters this warm building as dust free as possible and the inside environment is kept the same.

The last stop is here in the house, so the wood can acclimate to the indoors and final detailing can be done if needed. Final steps include oiling, buttering, buffing, tagging,  photographing and packing up.

Often we gather our own wood as folks tell us about downed trees.  Other times we collect donated wood from other woodworkers going out of business.  We’re always on the lookout unique pieces and  for "good deals!”
